I’m one of those annoying people – a self-confessed “travel addict” – and now I’ve gone and started a blog. Could I be more of a cliché?

I set up this website during Covid-19 lockdown in the UK when I wasn’t able to leave my hometown, let alone the country. In the absence of my favourite hobby I was reminiscing about past trips and I realised my brain is a vault of useful travel information that could, and should, be shared. So I decided to start a blog.

I’ve had the travel bug from a young age. I would pore over my parents’ atlases and travel books and the answer to “what do you want to do when you grow up?” would be “travel the world”. My favourite book was “The Atlas of Natural Wonders” which I’ve kept and still look at to this day. Not having the means to go on family holidays I vowed that as an adult I would travel as far and wide as I could.

I work in the travel industry and have a background in responsible travel. There’s a certain guilt that comes with frequent travel and I’m constantly battling between satisfying my wanderlust whilst acknowledging the negative impact that travel has on the environment. Sustainability is an important issue that we should all consider when planning our holidays. If we’re going to fly we should make it count, by ensuring that our holidays bring benefit to local communities and help them to conserve their natural environments.
